1. About Using the Online Shop (Please read carefully)

Before using, please be sure to read "Notation Based on the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions".

Also, please confirm and agree to the following precautions before placing an order.

◎ About Stock
We share inventory between our physical store and online shop, so items may be out of stock at the store when you place an order.
Most of the listed products can be viewed at the physical store, but some items are located at our office in Okayama City. If there is a product you would like to see at the store, please contact us before visiting.

◎ About Product Photo Colors
The appearance of colors in all product photos may vary depending on the monitor environment of your PC or other device, and the environment in which the product is used. (Especially vivid colors may appear different).

◎ Time until Shipping
We usually ship within 3-5 business days.
Please note that shipping may take longer if it falls on weekends or holidays.
(As of June 1, 2023, the number of shipping days to some regions will change. Specified date delivery within 7 days including the order date may not be accepted.)

◎ Returns and Exchanges
・Cancellations
We do not accept cancellations or changes to orders due to customer convenience after the order has been placed. Also, we do not accept returns or size exchanges after purchase, regardless of whether the product has been opened. Please check the product information carefully before purchasing and placing an order.

◎ Defective Products / Incorrect Products
We will immediately send you a new or correct product. We will bear the shipping costs and fees for exchanges. 
※However, this is only applicable if you notify us within 7 days of receiving the product.

※For bank transfers, products will be shipped after payment confirmation.

To ensure secure card payments, we use "Shopify Payment". Payments can be made with VISA, MASTERCARD, DINERS, JCB, and AMERICAN EXPRESS.

Products will be shipped after payment confirmation.

3. About Shipping and Shipping Costs

Orders will be shipped within 3-5 business days after confirmation of order and payment.
Shipping operations are only performed on store business days.
(As of June 1, 2023, the number of shipping days to some regions will change. Specified date delivery within 7 days including the order date may not be accepted.)

Depending on the quantity and size of the product, shipping will be via Takkyubin Compact or Nekopos. Thank you for your understanding.

4. About Product Characteristics

(※Please be sure to confirm before purchasing)

Each piece is handmade by the artist, and there are variations in shape, size, pattern, and color. We hope you appreciate this as a unique quality of handmade items. If you desire a uniform finish like industrial products, please refrain from purchasing.

◎ About Ceramics

There are individual differences in shape, color, glaze application, and painted patterns.
Also, some glazes with less gloss may be prone to color transfer or minor scratches. We hope you enjoy the way the texture changes with use.
Most ceramics can be used in dishwashers and microwaves, but handwashing is recommended.

◎ Ceramic Maintenance

Pottery is absorbent. We recommend "sealing the pores" before use and regular maintenance as described below. While vessels made with the "kohiki" technique are said to be prone to staining, careful handling as described will enhance their character. This is especially recommended for white or light-colored pottery.

(How to seal pores)
Fill a large pot with rice water, immerse the pottery, bring it to a boil, simmer for about 10 minutes, then turn off the heat. Let it cool in the hot water, rinse, dry once, and then use it. This will fill the crazing and make it less prone to stains.
Also, soaking it in water before each use will help prevent food stains.
Do not store colored liquids or oily foods in the pottery, or leave it submerged in water. After use, dry it thoroughly before storing.

◎ About Glass Products

Blown glass pieces are handmade, so there are variations in shape and size. Please consider the size notation as a guide when purchasing. Also, natural minerals are used for coloring, and even for the same color, the color development may vary from piece to piece.

These are not heat-resistant or tempered glass, so please absolutely avoid using them in situations where the temperature changes rapidly in a short time, such as heating in a microwave oven, freezing in a refrigerator, or pouring hot water. Also, please be extremely careful if children use them.

When cleaning, please gently hand wash with a soft material such as a sponge.

◎ Handling Furniture

Avoid using in direct sunlight or near heating/cooling appliances. This may cause fire, discoloration, deformation, or malfunction (warping, cracking).
Use on a flat, level surface. This may cause tipping or deformation.
Do not sit on it when wet. This may cause mold or stains.

◎ Furniture Maintenance

(Oil Finish)
This finish uses vegetable oil as a protective film, allowing you to feel the natural texture and feel of the wood. It absorbs moisture easily and can be stained, and it will also tan from direct sunlight, but its greatest appeal is that it develops character with use.
Wipe off dirt with a dry cloth. If the dirt is severe, make a dilute solution of neutral detergent, soak a soft cloth in it, wring it out well, and wipe. Then, wipe with a cloth soaked in water and wrung out well. Finally, wipe off any moisture with a dry cloth. Volatile solvents may cause discoloration or scratches, so please do not use them.

(Fabric)
For daily care, it is effective to gently pat the surface and vacuum to remove dust.
If stains such as tea or coffee occur, make a dilute solution of neutral detergent, soak a soft cloth in it, lightly wring it out, and tap the surface to wipe it off. Next, wipe off the detergent with a cloth soaked in water and wrung out well, and finally wipe off the moisture with a dry cloth.
Volatile solvents may cause discoloration, so please do not use them.

◎ About Leather Products

Natural leather may have unique scratches, stains, and wrinkles. Especially for vegetable-tanned leather, it is very prone to scratches, so we hope you enjoy the texture that develops with use. Leather is susceptible to water and may fade. Please also be careful about color transfer to other products.

 

5. About Gift Wrapping

Our staff will carefully wrap your present for your loved ones. (440 yen including tax)
We also include a free message card.
If you would like a celebratory noshi (gift wrapper), it is free of charge. Please inform us of your desired content when ordering.

 

6. For Customers Who Are Not Receiving Emails

We have received reports from customers, especially those using mobile phone carrier email addresses, that they are not receiving emails from our shop.

After you place an order, our shop sends an order confirmation email from ****@toutou-kurashiki.online. If you are not receiving emails, please refer to the information below to check your settings. If you still cannot receive emails, please contact us by phone.

If you are using free email services, please check your "spam folder" or "trash".
Please set your email software or service provider's function to receive ****@toutou-kurashiki.online as a regular email.
If you are using a mobile phone carrier's email address and have a spam filter function enabled, please set @toutou-kurashiki.online to be allowed (domain setting).

Terms and Conditions for International Shipping

About the Products

Since almost all our products are made by hand, they vary in shape, size, color, glazing.

Please consider the photos and the size noted as a guide at the point of purchase. 

About Inventory

Items are made available both online & in-store at the same time. Please understand that there are occasions where we may notify you regarding the availability of an item.

About Taxes

Orders shipped to outside of Japan are not charged Japanese consumption tax(VAT).
Your package might be subject to local import duties, VAT or tariffs. Payment of such tax is the responsibility of the recipient and is usually collected upon delivery. Please check with your local customs office or delivery provider for information before an order.

We accept a payment via PayPal. You don't need to have a PayPal account, you can check out as a guest and continue as a standard credit card transaction. (MasterCard / VISA / American Express / JCB)

Shipping Method

- EMS (International Shipping)
Items will be shipped within 5-7 buisiness days by Express Mail Service (EMS) of Japan Post with insurance & tracking number. All orders can be tracked at the EMS website. Rates depend on weight and destination of a package.

- DHL (International Shipping)
For shipping to countries outside of the ems service area, we use DHL.
DHL shipping costs are determined by the size of the packing, so we will inform you of the shipping costs after you place your order.

- UGX (International Shipping)
The items will be shipped using Japan Post's international express delivery service. The price includes customs duties. The package is insured, comes with a tracking number, and will be shipped within 5–7 business days. All orders can be tracked on our website. Shipping costs vary depending on the package weight, volume, and destination.

- Yamato Transport (Domestic)
Items will be shipped within 5-7 buisiness days by Yamato Transport with insurance & tracking number. All orders can be tracked at the Yamato website.
Rates depend on destination.

Although items are carefully wrapped and packaged and highly unlikely to break in transit, we will add insurance for each package in case of unfortunate accidents (a damage or loss). In such case we may ask your support (requesting a damage report for a shipping provider) for a insurance claim.

Return policies

Our Return Policy lasts 7 days.
We do not accept any returns or exchanges after 7 days since the day the item was delivered.

Return / Exchanges

We do not accept any returns or exchanges unless the item you purchased is defective.

If you have received a defective item, please contact us at info(at)toutou-kurasniki.jp include the details and a picture to proof the defective item. If the return is accepted, we will email you the return address.

Please understand that shipping charges including import taxes must be paid by you. We will not refund any shipping charges or import taxes.
Depending on where you live, the item may take more time for your exchanged product to reach its destination.

When damage occurs

The buyer will receive a full refund if item is returned within 7 days after it's received. As items are one of a kind, ordering a replacement may be possible, but might take time to produce.
In such case we may ask your support (requesting a damage report for a shipping provider) for a insurance claim.
